Music Together, Violin, Viola
Crystal Wallis Graves

Crystal knows that not all her students are going to go on to become professional musicians- and that's ok! Her goal is always to support a positive relationship with music and playing. She encourages families to make music together as often as possible, and for adults to find ways to play with others.
She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music from the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University and has performed as a violist with the Arkansas Symphony, Conway Symphony, the Hampton Roads Philharmonic, and the Jamestown String Quartet.

Piano, voice, flute
Kristen Jones

Kristen, like many, started her musical journey as a child, singing in church and with family and friends. Her Memaw was her biggest musical influence, teaching her about music legends at a young age- Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, and more. Memaw loved to regale her with tales of getting to meet some of these greats, like when she found herself in Elvis's kitchen on a band trip fundraiser!

Kristen started playing flute in middle school and enjoys both playing and teaching the instrument.

From high school musicals, Kristen graduated to performing in local festivals. Unfortunately, her beloved Memaw passed away before she could see Kristen perform on stage. This led Kristen to write her first original song called "I Wish You Could See Me Now."

Kristen performs all over Arkansas and surrounding states with her band Flatliner. The large 7-piece group performs hits from the 50s to the 2000s.

Known for her contemporary methods of vocal instruction, Kristen likes to combine modern musical vocal stylels and techniques-growls, rasps, runs, vibrato, and breathiness- with the more common, smooth, classic, Broadway-esque vocal style to pinpoint each vocalist's unique tone and intonation.

Kristen is excited to be part of the music education scene, teaching up-and-coming generations of rockstars, songwriters, and musical theater nerds like herself, and hopes to inspire the next wave of talent.

Guitar, piano

Leila began her journey with music through piano, singing, and songwriting. She has always pursued music as a way of self-expression and as a means to share her love of music with the world. She began singing in front of crowds at a young age. Her Pawpaw was her biggest influence as a musician--his encouragement jump-started her aspirations to become a musician at a very young age.

With Kristen Jones, Leila co-founded the cover band, Flatliner, with whom she has performed as a pianist and vocalist all over Arkansas.
Leila expanded her musicianship by learning guitar. What began as a way to add structure to her songs quickly grew into a passion of its own. Through guitar, she discovered new ways of expressing emotion in her songwriting and developed an even deeper understanding of music production. Over time, guitar became one of her most valuable tools as both a performer and songwriter, and she now enjoys passing that knowledge along to her students.
Leila is excited to step into the role of an instructor, teaching guitar, piano, and voice to the next generation of musicians. She believes in fostering confidence, creativity, and self-expression through music, and her goal is to inspire her students the same way her Pawpaw inspired her. Most of all, she is passionate about sharing the love music has to offer — a love that can connect, heal, and empower others. Through her teaching, she hopes to leave a lasting impact and help her students discover the joy and lifelong gift of music.

JT Meharg

JT is the lead guitarist in the band Flatliner and also plays in his own band, Prime Jive. He specializes in teaching lead-style guitar solos, but also is passionate about teaching players of all abilities (including beginners) how to play chords and then how to make their own songs.

Although his mother tried to have him learn violin as a child, it wasn't until he received a guitar for Christmas when he was 14 that he found his musical passion. "Once I picked it up, I didn't put it back down," JT recalls. He also played saxophone in high school band, eventually transitioning to guitar in the jazz band.

His dad introduced him to the banjo and Earl Scruggs, which was a big influence for him. JT's musical influences include Angus Young, Jimi Hendrix, AC/DC, and Stevie Ray Vaughan.

JT is excited to share his passion for music with students of all ages.

Drum Set, Orchestral or Band Percussion
Micah Thrift
Now Accepting New Students (ages 7+)

Micah is a single father of three, 1 girl (16) and 2 boys (13 and 10), and is a veteran of the United States Coast Guard. He currently works in the accounting department for the Arkansas Heart Hospital and attends Mount Carmel Baptist church in Cabot.

His family is quite musical; some would say that he was born with a pair of drumsticks in his hands. He would drum on pots and pans using wooden spoons, and built his own drum set using spare parts, buckets, and lids. When he was 7 years old he finally played on a real drum set at church with a full band.

By the time Micah started as a beginner in percussion in 7th grade, he had already learned to play 3 other instruments: piano, guitar, and bass guitar. He astonished many older musicians and exceeded the expectations of his music teachers and directors throughout his time in school.

After graduating, Micah continued playing music in the hopes that he would someday pursue a career in teaching.

He is the current drummer at Mount Carmel Baptist Church, and plays special events and festivals with two bands: The Dadbodz and Flatliner. Micah has a passion to teach kids that show interest in drumming. He is dedicated to spend the time needed and to help harness the will to learn by using an individuals learning ability to their advantage.

Accepts students age 7+
