Uplevel your musical skills (or jumpstart them!) with our songwriting classes!

Led by up-and-coming singer-songwriter Leila Dean, this series of classes will focus on lyric writing, music theory, and melodic writing.

Courses

Lyric Writing

Introduction to song structures, rhyming, subject brainstorming, hooks & imagery.

Currently offered for teens & adults as a 4-week course in November 2025

Music Theory

Rhythm basics, basic scales, dynamics, intervals, chords, circle of fifths, chord progressions, and how to apply all to a song.
Will be offered after November 2025.

Melodic Writing

Melody basics, call-and-response, matching words to melody, contour, motifs and repetition, phrase-building, relation of melody to emotion, harmony & counter-melodies

Will be offered in 2026

Pilot Lyric-Writing Class

Our first-ever lyric writing class will be offered on Tuesdays in November 2025. We will have one class for teens (6-7pm) and one for adults (7:30-8:30pm).

Since this is the first class we've ever offered, it will be the lowest price it will ever be- only $50 per student for a four week course.

Leila began her journey with music through piano, singing, and songwriting. She has always pursued music as a way of self-expression and as a means to share her love of music with the world.
